this is the place
where the great monsters
of the sea would come
to dry their tentacles out
before they  lay to sleep

the moon is made of glass
and the stars are so dusty
we can’t see them
in the reflection
of our lovers eyes

soft soaring melodies
shift from ear to ear
vibrating our brains and
creating new colors in our veins
giving us euphoria

i have not yet seen it
where it’s been real
i just dream it
for a few hours day from night
in a dark sleep i can’t ever shake

the sun
that was up today
shined right through me
and melted my veins
around my heart
until i began to implode
and every feeling
i’ve ever felt
burnt a black hole
in my skin

lonely lonely that is me

this is what it feels like
to be a wide open,
empty sea
filled with boken fish bones
and sinking shells
the cloud of air
sifting above is so dark
you forget
that it hid your knees

lonely lonely that is me

in the dark
i can feel the flies
that used to swarm around you
but now swarm around me
leave me to an empty room
with obsolete paper
waiting for me

lonely lonely that is me

my city could be heaven to me
if all of the trees stood alone
and not even one of these people
had a face
for now i wil turn to
what appeals to me
while the bees fly low
and the air clings to everything

i’m sorry
i can’t get you off my mind
it would be so much easier
if i could breathe
within these few walls
but there is so much little to work with
and it seems i have no time
so i sit sometimes
and write heartfelt poems
looking for a smile to jump off the page
but all i get is a memento
telling me to close my book
and jump inside the space between what i see
and where i want to be
but that isn’t enough for me
so i will continue to feel you devour
as i lay stuck between
two rocks:
one’s you and the other might be me

suppress this mess
because it does you no good
leave it behind
as if it were your favorite dress
you are the leader of the crowd
just confess
that you are the short hair
at the end of every dead mans snout

sometimes i lay down
and my breathing patterns
feel as fast
as a butterfly
fluttering it’s wings

sometimes i dream about
my best friends favorite comet
and other times
i dream about a black sheet of metal
closing in on you
to help you remember

i don’t have to make a sound
to let you in
i hardly remember when it began
i’m still trying not to let you win

the sky
looked like
a spilled milk factory
while the clouds
filed in front of the moon
and the cold
stangant air
froze my mind in time

every morning
or even night
when i wake up
i see a cave in the corner of my room

it’s covered in frost;
like the devil killed all of the angels
and god left us all here to rot

can’t ignore it any more

soon this itty bitty cave
will get so cold
that it shrivels my lungs
and it will enter a dream i have
that i will never be able to escape

she said “Hey Oliver
i don’t like to be alone
so show me around
place me by the sun
and bring me around the snow
i’ve got tomorrow and forever
i don’t need any other place
but your arms
so let time stand still
cause i hope you never let go.”

there is an itching sound
that i keep hearing
that’s coming from under my skin
i don’t know if it’s me or you
but it’s really starting
to stretch beyond truth

we cover ourselves
with blankets and blankets of hurt
at night in our dreams
we meet the blackened sky
but trying to ask yourself why
just gets you high.
